Heathrow Baggage Simulation

Interact in VR with the proposed T2 Baggage System and simulate the new baggage routes in real time.

Created as a collaboration between Costain and Heathrow as an attempt to discuss and identify problems with the CAD design for the new Baggage system in Terminal 2.

Several Kilometres of Conveyor routes and operations were simulated and procedurally generated by me, with a custom conveyor building script that would trace existing CAD routes and generate segmented conveyors and barriers that could mimic the routes and apply forces to Rigidbodies.

This scene incorporates a huge CAD Scene with the Unity ECS system, which allowed us to push the limits of Poly Count and memory management available to us in Unity.

You can control yourself around the scene with a fly cam and an XR Rig, with the ability to control pieces of machinery and manipulate baggage.

The benefit of this project was demonstrating the new methods of work and systems to hundreds of associated workers, identifying flaws with worker protocols and designs (especially the placement of Water Sprinklers in regards to workers).
